Portal

Places overheadline structures, portals.

  • Structure type can be selected from a library.
  • Structure locations are calculated using the geometry. Spacing of the masts are determined by the curvature, reduced spacing in the curves.
  • Structures can be placed at a user defined offset and side.
  • Side of the mast can be changed after placement.

Creates cantilever assemblies.

  • Cantilevers are created according to the placement of the mast and the geometry. Push-Pull assemblies are automatically selected.
  • Creates alternating push-pull placement in the straight sections and creates only push or pull cantilevers at the curves depending on the mast location and curvature.
  • Placed cantilevers and push/pull configuration can be changed after placement.
  • Cantilevers are automatically updated when there is a change in the geometry.

Creates wire runs.

  • Wire location is calculated based on the geometry.
  • Wire stagger is applied based on the selected cantilevers.
  • Overlaps are created at the end of wire length, using the selected overlap definitions.
  • Different overlap types can be selected for straight and curved parts of the geometry.
  • Overlaps can be removed by deleting one of the cantilevers in the overlap.
  • If structures are edited, wires are automatically recalculated and reconnected to cantilevers.
Note: Double cantilevers to be used in the overlap zones are predefined in the overlap definition.

Workflow

From the Display rail placement tools, select Portal to start the place a portal tool.

  1. Select the reference geometry, this geometry is used for offset and station calculations.
  2. Select the tracks to electrify. Reference track should be reselected if it will be electrified. A track that is not selected will not have wire runs or cantilevers.
  3. Select the mast type from the library.
  4. Select a pull cantilever definition.
  5. Select a push cantilever definition.
  6. Datapoint to select start distance.
  7. Datapoint to select end distance.
  8. Modify if needed.
SettingDescription
Portal Offset Offset of the portal to the reference track.
Portal Side Places the portal left or right side of track.
Place Single places a single portal, multiple places multiple in the selected range.
Replace Existing When selected, replaces the portal structures that are already added to the model.
Straight Overlap Overlap definition to use in the straight/tangent portions of the geometry.
Curve Overlap Overlap definition to use in the curved/arc portions of the geometry.
Maximum Wire Length Maximum length of a wire run. An overlap is created if the wire length exceeds this length.
